Eye10: Get ahead with your SEO without getting confused

Did you know that 93% of search engines drive all web traffic?

SEO involves aligning what users are searching for online with the content of your website. This includes aspects such as the body copy text, headings, images, metadata and the overall site functionality.

In the old days, when looking to find a product or a service, your customers would use the likes of telephone directories that would list local businesses along with their contact information. It was just as easy for customers to find what they needed as it was for businesses to get customers from this method.

However, times have changed. In the modern age, people are now using search engines to find the services, products and information that are relevant to them. Only, far too many websites aren’t giving search engines the right clues to link customers with what their website or business can offer. Hence, some websites aren’t getting the traffic or the conversions they need, because the website simply isn’t being found.

This is why SEO (search engine optimisation) is essential, as search engines are responsible for driving 93% of all web traffic to businesses. With billions of searches being carried out everyday on search engines, if your website isn’t SEO friendly, you can be sure it’s losing traffic every single day.

The only problem is, SEO can be extremely confusing to understand if you’re not an expert. This leaves many businesses and website owners feeling confused rather than empowered when using existing SEO tools, which speak to experts rather than everyday users. Eye10 is on a mission to change that, so that you can find exactly what you need to know about how to get your website to rank for key terms and provide a quality user experience to your visitors, without being overwhelmed with technical jargon in the process.

Built by SEO experts with everyday business and website owners in mind, we’re here to give you all the tools you need to make your website visible online, so you can improve your visitor numbers and ultimately your conversions in a way that’s simple, easy and user friendly.

There’s definitely an irony about having to use search engines to decode what different SEO terms mean, or how to properly use a particular SEO platform. When in reality, all you want to know is the current status of your website, along with how to improve on it in Layman’s terms. This is exactly what we’re about here at Eye10. Stop paying for expensive SEO software

The cost of SEO software can be a huge barrier for businesses, especially those just starting out. A yearly package on some of the main platforms can easily total four figures, just to monitor a single website! We think it’s highly unfair that businesses have to fork out so much just to understand how to connect with their customers online.

Eye10 has a starting price of just $39, making SEO the same price as a cup of Joe. We like our price much better than what our competitors are charging, and we know you will too.

Keyword Gap

Identifying your own keywords can be a huge challenge for business owners unfamiliar with SEO, especially those keywords which you aren’t currently ranking for but need to be, based on what your website is about.

Our Keyword Gap tool will instantly tell you what keywords you need to be including in your content, based on the keywords you currently don’t rank for. We’ll also tell you aspects such as the monthly search volume of the keywords too, so you can decide which keywords areright for your content.

What are SEO keywords?

Something we’re passionate about here at Eye10, is helping everyday business and website owners understand the basics of SEO. Given SEO keywords are the clues needed to align your website with what your users are searching for online, we think it’s pretty important to explain SEO terms on a level that everyone can understand.

When you break down the phrase ‘keywords’, the meaning soon becomes clear, in that these are the words that are key to being found online. In other words, think of SEO keywords as magnets that are placed on your website to attract search engines and therefore users to your website.

What are short tail SEO keywords?

Short tail SEO keywords are made up of only one or two words, hence they are not considered long phrases.

Example: ‘SEO software’

The advantage of short tail keywords is that they are easy to place in body copy and headings because they can be adapted to different search terms as well as different search intent.

In this case, we could use the above keyword in a longer H1 (title) tag, to read ‘The Best SEO Software To Make Your Website Rank In Search Engines’, just as we could create a further heading that reads ‘What Is SEO Software?’.

One aspect to watch with short tail keywords, is that they often have a lot of competition which can make it more difficult to rank for these terms. This is known as keyword difficulty, which is scored out of 100. The lower the score, the easier it is to rank for that particular term.

What are long tail SEO keywords?

Long tail SEO keywords are made up of at least three words, and usually form phrases or questions.

Example: ‘What Is The Best SEO Software?’

An advantage of long tail SEO keywords is that it allows you to hone in on your niche, or a specific search query, especially if your website provides a relevant solution for your users. In addition, the keyword difficulty of long tail keywords tends to be much easier, because the term is specific rather than generalised.

However, one disadvantage of long tail keywords is that sometimes the traffic can be less for a specific search phrase or question, compared with shorter phrases. This is why anyone looking to make their website more SEO friendly must consider the relevance of the keywords along with the quality of the experience they provide on their website when choosing which keywords to use.

How many SEO keywords does my website need?

There is no specific answer to this question because it depends on a lot of factors such as the competitiveness of your niche along with the specific terms you are trying to rank for. However, by entering your URL and your main keywords into Eye10, our software will show you how many keywords your pages should have, along with what these keywords are to improve your rankings.

Industry Checker

Don’t know who your competitors are? As well as general industry competitors, your competitors are also those who are targeting the same keywords as you. So, if you’re in the dark about the websites that are competing for your traffic, our Industry Checker tool makes it simple to find out.

Add in your URL, your target country, and up to 5 keywords. We’ll then display your 5 closest competitors, and give you a plan of action, detailing missing keywords or keyphrases on your website. We’ll also tell you the reasons why a particular competitor has been listed, so you can better understand your website’s positioning on the wider internet.

All of which will also help you to better align with your audience too, because you’ll understand what type of searches are being made to find both you and your competitors.

On-Page SEO

Get the answers you need that will help you understand how your website is performing with an Eye10 SEO.

What’s unique about our On-page SEO, is that we allow you to type in a keyword with your audit. That way, you can see whether your website is geared towards that particular search term or not as a whole.

Unlike other SEO tools, Eye10 SEO audits are completed within just a few seconds. We also make it easy to filter out what looks good and what needs your attention.

At the top, you’ll see a score out of 100, with the higher the score meaning your website is optimised correctly. You can then toggle between each of the different sections which will either be ticked green for good, or red meaning that particular aspect needs attention.

What is an SEO audit?

Just like looking under the hood of your car to identify how it’s running, SEO audits essentially do the same thing but for your website.

SEO audits consider on-page, off-page, and technical aspects of your website. In combination, these all determine how easy it is for your website to be found, plus whether the objectives of your website are being reached or not.

Without conducting an SEO audit, it’s impossible to see which issues are holding your website back. But in just a few easy clicks, an Eye10 SEO Audit will clearly display everything you need to know about the health of your website in a way that’s easy to understand.

Want to read over our findings at a later date? No problem! You can either export your SEO audit as a PDF file, or email yourself with all of the details just by pushing a button at the top of the screen.

Does my website need an SEO audit?

Yes, it is highly recommended that all website owners regularly conduct an SEO audit of their website, so that they can ascertain whether it is performing optimally or not. Crucially, this will allow you to see how users are finding you, along with which keywords you are ranking for and which keywords you are not ranking for. Only if you are armed with this information can you make meaningful changes that will increase visitor numbers and improve where your website ranks on search engines.

How often should I perform an SEO audit?

Ideally, an SEO audit should be conducted at least every 3 months. Otherwise, problems may arise with your website that you are unaware of. Or, your web pages may lose their ranking due to your competitors improving their SEO strategy.

It’s ideal to have an SEO tool such as Eye10 where you can conduct regular SEO audits as part of your membership package whenever you like, especially after making changes to your content so that you can see whether these changes have been effective or not.

What is on-page SEO?

On-page SEO considers the content of your website and its overall structuring.

Some of the top on-page SEO aspects include the use of headers, title tags, meta descriptions, and image optimisation.

All of the on-page content including metadata must be optimised for SEO. However, on-page SEO is not just about adding the right keywords. Instead, search engines are looking to send their users to pages that provide a quality experience.

So, if users are immediately exiting your page because they are not relevant, this will push up your bounce rate, which will then mean your page will slide down the rankings. Likewise, if the user experience hasn’t been considered for your ecommerce store, then users will shop elsewhere.

Hence, on-page SEO must factor in what search engines are looking for as well as your human users. So, as part of your Eye10 SEO audit, our tool will look to highlight all of the areas you can improve both in terms of search engine visibility, as well as providing a quality experience for users who do land on your website.

What is off-page SEO?

Are your ears burning? If your website is the best resource for your niche, they should be! Off-page SEO refers to organic and paid traffic that links back to your website. The more links that point to your website, the more authoritative it becomes in the eyes of search engines, meaning your pages are more likely to rank for that particular search term.

You will find details about the websites that link to your pages through our Backlink Monitor and Backlink Checker tools. This includes how much traffic the link is bringing to your website, the status of the backlink, and whether there are any broken links preventing the traffic from reaching your website.

What is a technical SEO audit?

Technical SEO audits look at the status of your website and its general structure. If there are any technical issues, then this can affect things such as how fast your pages will load up. Plus, the way your website has been built will also affect how user-friendly it is for your users.

Getting on top of all the technical aspects of your website will provide the best experience for your visitors, and ensure search engines will want to send users to your website in the first place.

With Eye10, we include some technical SEO aspects without our SEO audits. But, we’re mindful that we don’t want to overwhelm website owners with headache inducing information that you need a college degree in coding or programming to understand! Instead, we’ll highlight the main issues, and if you need any further insights, we provide you with plenty of tools to take a further look.

What will an Eye10 SEO audit tell me?

  • AMP
  • Check robots
  • Disallow directive test
  • Headings
  • Iframe usage
  • Image alt attributes
  • Keyword in URL
  • Keywords density
  • Keywords gap
  • Keywords in title
  • No index tag
  • Nofollow test tag
  • Open graph protocol
  • Underscores in the URL
  • Use of favicon
  • Webserver
  • Word count
  • XML sitemap

Not sure what any of these terms mean? Don’t worry! Under each aspect of your SEO audit, we will give you an example so that you can see exactly what we are referring to.

As mentioned, you’ll also see whether that particular aspect gets a green tick meaning everything is ok, or a red tick meaning further attention is needed.

PageSpeed insights

Did you know that 53% of page visits are immediately abandoned if a page takes longer than 3 seconds to load? This figure increases to 87% for a further two second delay.

Having a website that is fast to load matters, because users have come to expect pages will load instantly. With Google recommending websites aim for a 0.5-2 second page load time, if your website is slow to load, then you could be missing out on page views.

The more users make a hasty exit from your website (bounce rate) the more search engines deem your website to be untrustworthy or unhelpful. All of which is bad for SEO.

So let us fix that for you! Our PageSpeed Insights tool will check how fast your pages are to load, and give you recommendations on how to speed things up.

The most common questions about SEO answered

We’ve answered some of the most common questions asked about SEO below.

What Is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimisation. It is a practice that seeks to align what users are searching for online with your website. This is achieved by looking at on-page, off-page, and technical aspects of your website, ensuring that all three of these elements work to promote both search engine visibility and user-friendliness.

When did SEO start?

It’s a common misconception that SEO is a new idea. However, the term was first coined back in the 1990s, when the manager of rock group Starship Jefferson became frustrated that the band’s website was only ranking in position number 4 on Google.

Over time, search engines have also wanted to provide a better experience for their users, ensuring they are presented with the top results in relation to their search query. Otherwise, they too will lose trust and authority because they aren’t providing relevant results.

So, SEO has developed into a practice that’s designed by search engines but implemented by marketers and SEO experts. With Eye10, you too can understand SEO and the aspects that make your website rank (or not), along with the changes needed to remedy any issues, regardless of how long you have known about SEO for!

How to improve SEO?

There are many different facets to this answer, and that’s because to improve SEO, you must consider both search engines and your human users in equal measures.

First of all, your website must be correctly optimised for SEO. This includes adding relevant keywords and phrases into the content of your website and its metadata. You also need to check whether your website is user friendly or whether it has any elements such as a slow load time, broken links, missing pages or even glitchy elements that are preventing users from carrying out the intended actions on your website with ease.

However, a huge component of SEO is providing a quality experience for your users overall. Aside from how your website works, search engines are looking for websites that have endeavoured to create a quality experience all around for their users. For example, by using engaging visual graphics, adding informational content and having a site structure that easily guides users between each of your pages.

SEO is also something that needs to be considered over time. That’s why we recommend investing in an SEO tool such as Eye10 so that you can regularly check the performance of your website and its individual pages and learn whether there are any aspects that require improvement.

How much does SEO cost?

Unlike PPC (pay per click) campaigns, SEO doesn’t have a fixed cost. It is something that can be done by website owners, or you can hire a professional SEO expert or SEO content writer. Therefore, you can control the cost.

When people think of the cost of SEO, this usually relates to SEO software. Eye10 can be purchased for as little as $39, meaning you can find out everything you need to know about your website’s performance without paying a hefty amount, as is the case with other SEO tools on the market.

What is an SEO strategy?

An SEO strategy looks to remedy any issues with your current SEO performance over a set time.

A great place to start with any SEO strategy is by conducting an SEO audit, which you’ll be able to do once you sign up to Eye10. Doing so will outline any findings that can be used to improve the discoverability of your website. For example, a lack of keyword implementation, including which keywords your website is lacking compared to your competitors.

The idea is to keep checking on the progress of your SEO, especially whether your rankings have improved based on the changes you have made to your website and its content. The findings can also be placed into a report with visual graphics demonstrating the progress of your SEO strategy.

What is SEO copywriting?

SEO copywriting is the practice of writing copy but with SEO techniques in mind. Sometimes, the task is also known as SEO content writing, though usually, SEO content writing refers to creating long-form content such as blogs.

When writing with SEO in mind, the user must factor in keywords in the body copy, headings and page metadata. Plus, elements such as the average word length for the topic and how to maximise how long people spend on the page by adding images, infographics, videos etc. This is very different from writing for a newspaper, which would be a physical item that wouldn’t need to be crawled by search engines because it is a printed item. However, if that same news report appeared online, it would need to be written in a way that was SEO friendly in order for it to be found.

How to find keywords for SEO?

SEO software is the easiest way to find SEO keywords related to your products or services. With Eye10, there are lots of ways to find SEO keywords, including by using our handy Keyword Tool.

Our Industry Checker also allows you to see SEO keywords that your competitors are using, meaning they could be ranking above you because these keywords are not present on your website.
